Sofia Montoya

Ph.D. Student, Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience

Research Interests: Vision, plasticity, non-invasive brain stimulation, neuroimaging, rehabilitation after stroke

Rotations: Dr. Josef Rauschecker, Dr. Ella Striem-Amit, Dr. Andrew DeMarco

Advisor: Dr. Tina Liu

Prior Education: Tufts University, B.S. in Biopsychology
Sofia graduated from Tufts University in 2023 with a B.S. in Biopsychology and a minor in Studio Art. At Tufts, her work focused on multisensory (tactile-visual) integration and awareness.

Now a PhD candidate in the IPN, Sofia is a member of the Visual Perception and Plasticity (VPP) Lab under Dr. Tina Liu. Her research focuses on visual rehabilitation after stroke using perceptual learning and non-invasive brain stimulation. She is also interested in using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to investigate neurochemical markers of plasticity.
