Pauline Wonnenberg is a Ph.D. candidate in the Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience at Georgetown University. Her research focuses on understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying stress-related disorders, with a particular interest in how corticosterone and 4-methylumbelliferone influence brain function and behavior. Utilizing techniques such as fiber photometry, proteomics, and MRI in a depression-like rodent model, she aims to uncover novel insights into neurodegeneration and psychiatric illness.
Before coming to Georgetown, Pauline gained extensive experience in behavioral neuroscience and electrophysiology while working in Dr. Annegret Falkner’s lab at Princeton Neuroscience Institute and Dr. Susan Amara’s lab at the National Institute of Mental Health. She is passionate about interdisciplinary approaches to studying the brain and is dedicated to mentoring students interested in neuroscience research.
