PhD Student, Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience
PhD Student, Burns Lab
Research Interests: Traumatic Brain Injury, Electrophysiology
Advisor: Mark Burns, PhD
Rotations: Dr. Gerard Ahern, Dr. Rebekah Evans, Dr. Mark Burns
Prior Education: University of California San Diego, B.S. Neuroscience and Physiology
Greta earned her BS in Neuroscience and Physiology with a minor in Studio Art from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in May of 2020. At UCSD, she worked in Dr. Yishi Jin’s lab to study axon regeneration in C. elegans. After graduating, Greta spent two years in Boston as a researcher. She worked with Dr. Ganesh Shankar and Dr. Muhamed Hadzipasic on a translational project investigating how mechanotransduction of macroscale forces drives degenerative spine disease. She also worked with Dr. Justin Brown and Dr. Stanley Bazarek to study the use of nerve transfers to restore motor function to paralyzed muscles.
In 2022, Greta joined Georgetown’s MD/PhD program with a strong interest in neurotrauma. She is currently doing her thesis research in Dr. Mark Burns’ lab where she primarily uses slice electrophysiology to study the effects of varying levels of traumatic brain injury.
