I received my B.S. in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, with an emphasis in Neurobiology, from the University of Arizona. I then earned my M.S. in Integrative Neuroscience from Georgetown University, where I worked in Dr. Italo Mocchetti’s lab under the mentorship of Dr. Lee Campbell. During my master’s research, I investigated strategies to target HIV latency using CRISPR-based transcriptional activation in combination with pharmacological latency-reversing agents.
 
Now, as a Ph.D. candidate, my research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease progression. Using a progressive animal model of Parkinson’s disease, I investigate how synaptic alterations within the substantia nigra pars reticulata contribute to basal ganglia circuit dysfunction, disease pathology, and the emergence of Parkinsonian-like behavioral deficits.
 
Outside of the lab, I enjoy playing pickleball, spending time with my dog, and going to the gym!
