Mikaley graduated from Virginia Tech in 2022 with degrees in psychology and neuroscience. During her time at Tech, she worked in the Mind-Body Lab with Drs. Bruce Friedman and Heather Kissel to investigate the role of physiological linkage in emotion communication. After graduating, she worked in the Cognitive Neuroimaging Lab at Georgetown with Dr. Xiong Jiang, where she studied HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorders (HAND).
Now, Mikaley is a Patrick Healy Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience at Georgetown. Under the mentorship of Drs. Anna Greenwald and Peter Turkeltaub, she is studying changes to visuospatial cognition after stroke and exploring rehabilitation techniques. In the future, she wants to apply this knowledge to the field of space medicine. Aside from studying the brain, Mikaley loves dancing, running, hiking, reading fiction novels, and spending time with friends and family!
