Our interdisciplinary program attracts students with a wide variety of backgrounds. While this is a major asset for our program, it means that students enter the first year core courses with different levels of proficiency in the many areas of neuroscience.
The summer course takes place the first summer of the program. Designed and run by senior graduate students, it is a six-week review of the material incoming students are expected to be familiar with upon entrance to the IPN. Incoming students can identify areas of weakness which need to be bolstered over the course of the first year. Summer course provides an excellent opportunity for senior students to gain teaching experience in a low-pressure atmosphere.
